Welcome! I’m Meg, and I’m the artist behind JMEG Photography. I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m all about being real and transparent, and I strive to mirror that in my business too. That said, if you need to choose a photographer based on price alone, chances are I cannot compete. The world is filled with photographers, many of which are at a price point below mine. However, if you’re searching for a photographer who values quality, attention to detail, provides exceptional service, and cares whole-heartedly about you and your life — then I’m the photographer for you.
I am a full-service photographer specializing in intimate weddings, lifestyle portraits, and creating personalized heirlooms for your family. I’m here to document your life for you, to preserve your memories and grow with you through all of life’s moments, so you can continue to be a part of your story, and leave the documenting to me.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
When I am not pouring my heart into my work, you can find me anywhere outdoors, hanging out in a coffee shop, or nuzzled on the couch snuggling with my son, Ellis. My soul home lives on the water, near the pacific coast, on the shores of Lake Michigan, or traveling by stream all around the world. I enjoy exploring the unknown, indulging in cheesecake, cuddling kittens, and spending quality time with the people I love. My happy place includes waking up early, wrapped in a cozy blanket with a fresh cup of coffee to watch the sunrise (preferably by a lake or in the mountains). I have a special place in my heart for outdoor, intimate concerts, morning hikes, and kayaking.
I take a storytelling approach in my work that's meant to reflect the true essence of you and your loved ones.
I want you to take a second and imagine your babies growing up in a home where they always know where they belong. They wake up in the morning, run down the halls, giving you a big monster hug and see a portrait of your family in the corner of their eye. They see themselves laughing with you, running with you, and playing with you in these pictures.
That portrait serves as so much more than just a canvas. It’s a daily reminder of the good stuff. It’s our why, right in front of us, every day. Hanging your family portraits on the walls, gives our kids a sense of place as they grow, so they know without a doubt, they belong, they’re loved, and they’re safe.
As a fellow mom, I can tell you for certain that there’s nothing more valuable than that.
My son is the reason I print. We used to have a small 5x7 print in a frame on a bookshelf. At 7-months old he would walk over to that frame, pick it up, and point to me and say, “Mama” then he’d point to Jimmy and say, “Daddy” and then he’d point to himself and say, “Baby Ellis.”
That moment is when the lightbulb went off in my head. He was 7-months old then, and he knew exactly who we were, who he was, and that we belong together.
After that, I went big. I invested in canvases for my wall, I framed ALL the prints, and displayed them throughout our home. Today, Ellis is 2.5 years old, and he still points at the pictures from when he was a baby and says, “Baby Ellis.” Then he looks at pictures from this year and says, “Big Ellis” with a big old grin on his face.
I’m here to give you and your kids that same opportunity, because you deserve it, and so do they.
I believe your life is a beautiful work of art. You may not always feel like you’re meant for this parenting thing, and you may not always feel significant, but to your children and grandchildren, you’re the world. They deserve to have pictures of you, and you with them, so they can know who you are, see where you’ve been, and have something to hold on to far after your time is done. With print, it doesn’t matter how much time goes by. You can stuff prints in a box, put them in a closet, and they may get lost, but eventually they’ll be found again.. you can’t say the same thing for the digital world — you just can’t. So let me ask you, if something happened to you today, would your kids have pictures of you? Would they know where to find them? Let’s connect.
I remember gazing down at my son three days after I brought him home from the hospital. I used to hold him on my chest, tear up, and hope that if I held him close enough that he’d stay small forever. I never knew that my heart was capable of a love so strong until that moment.
Throughout my first year with him I learned so much. I had doors open in my heart that I didn’t even know existed. I said things, and did things that I didn’t even know I knew or felt. It wasn’t until he came into my life that I realized just how quickly life goes by, and how important it is to document the life you share with the ones you love.
